There are always trends in home building, but at Tim Hoelting Homes we believe one of the most important trends ……
We at Highland Park Builders, wanted to share some of the trends we are hearing and seeing for 2013.
Colors are leaving the vibrant hues and leaning more to the softer pastels and neutrals. Soft blues combined with navy, or yellows paired with soft greens are big this year. Also, grey tones are making it big, especially in kitchens. The contemporary, clean lines in the kitchen pair well with deep grey walls and black quartz counter tops. The backsplash seems to be giving way to glass tiles or solid paint instead of the traditional ceramic. Also, adding texture and sparkle with gold or silver glass tiles is popular. Floor to ceiling cabinets continue to be a hot feature.
Design wise, mutigenerational living areas is the hot trend for 2013. Working in easy to use and safe bath and kitchen access is hot as more people realize the possibility of aging and living on your own. Master baths are going toward wheelchair accessible showers and plenty of storage for de-clutter. More thought is being given to the details such as arched openings, alcoves, and plant ledges.
Individual style is giving way to interesting floor plans and exterior elevations. Creating openness and space while making the home feel cozy and warm is creating challenges for architects. And, as always, storage is key. Fitting in as much as possible since quality and style is taking over where size used to be.
These are just a few things we are looking forward to incorporating into our new home designs for 2013.
